Testudo, which camera(s) did you use for the pictures on your site? I'm thinking of buying an underwater digital camera.

Saw your post elsewhere about replacing your Canon D10. I'm looking at that one and also the Canon SX230, which has 1080p video capability and HDMI connectivity. Unfortunately the camera is not waterproof and would require an underwater case, adding significantly to the price - but I do like the video and HDMI features...decisions, decisions...

I also thought about a case for my Canon DSLR, but decided to try a waterproof point and shoot first. Based on the results from my Pentax W80 I was glad I went that route first. The few results from the brief time using the D10 pretty much made me forget about using a case for the DSLR, as I don't think the results would be much better.
As for video, while the D10 is only 640x480 it seems adequate for underwater footage from the videos I've viewed. The Pentax is 720P and was definitely fine from my perspective, even on a 42" screen. I guess if you are going to take a lot of video 1080P will be nice, especially if taken topside. Plus the SX210 does have a few fans in the snorkeling community.

"if you are going to take a lot of video 1080P will be nice"
This may well be the tipping point toward the SX230, as there are grandchildren in the mix and their Nanna thinks everything they do is cute, even when it really isn't.

The reviews I found of the sx230 look positive and the older sx210 was a solid camera, so probably worth a try, especially if it won't strictly be used as you underwater camera.

Ended up getting the SX230 with underwater housing and weight. Waiting for SDXC Class 10 card I ordered separately to show up so I can play with it. The siren song of watching 16X9 1080p video on my 60" Pioneer Kuro monitor was just too loud to ignore. Can't wait for July to get here so I can try it out on location in GC.

Of course!
Got the camera card yesterday. The thing takes excellent video, now the only problem is my 5-year-old desktop's media card is in no way up to the task of rendering HD video, so it looks choppy during playback. The laptop is newer but it doesn't look any better on that, either...can't wait for the HDMI Type A-mini HDMI Type C cables to arrive so I can watch it on the TV monitor.

Very nice! Were you off Rum Point?

It was at the Rum Point Boulder Coral Gardens. Ended up falling asleep with my contacts in and scratched my cornea, so limited snorkeling this trip. But the D10 seems like a winner.

Ouch! Hope the scratch stops bugging you quickly so you can get more time in the water.

Thanks, but unfortunately, I had to curtail the regular quantity of snorkeling and will just have to make up for it on another trip... Visibility wasn't very good (irritated eyes not withstanding) anyway.
