I have always had trouble with my mask leaking. The last time we were in GC we went to one of the dive shops in 7MB and bought a lovely expensive mask, but I still had problems. I follow all the directions and the mask consistently starts leaking just under the nose area. I have a small face and a small nose, but a lot of hair which I try to tie back. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated! We are retuning to GC very soon and I really don't want this annoyance. Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Since the leaks are coming from under the nose area and not from stray hairs voiding a seal, the best advice is to go to a local dive shop (since the one on GC didn't work out) and have them fit you for a mask. Some faces are just harder to fit with a "generic" mask to than others. Once you have a mask that fits, it makes it that much easier finding a new one when it needs replacing. Cost really shouldn't effect a proper fit.
Once you have a proper fitting mask, be sure not to adjust it so it is too tight. Even though it goes against logic, a mask that is adjusted too tightly can leak, as well as squish your head.
The proper fit for a mask should loosely stay on your face and create a bit of suction when gently pushed on towards your face (When out of the water). A quick exhale from your nose should break the seal. When that happens, you know you have a good seal.

Many thanks, Testudo. Since I just purchased that mask by a fellow who tried to fit it to me, I'll try the latter suggestions before I spend the money on another mask. He did seem to know what he was doing... Fingers crossed. Thanks again, and thanks for such a great site.

Once you get the tension/tightness right, you can also try altering the position of the head strap to create different angles from strap to mask. For me, the closer the strap is to the top of my head, the better the seal.

Same for me!
