I'm headed to Grand Cayman with family and friends and staying at a BYOB near Rum Point Jan 21-28. I've looked through the snorkel guide and am excited to get going. Does anyone have any tips for locations (especially on the north side) that would be good for outings that will accommodate a group where some might want to snorkel, some hang on the beach, picnic, etc... Also, will the north side be calm and clear this time of year? Thanks, -Royce

Using the Rum Point Club as a base camp should provide all your looking for. Great snorkeling off to east at the Boulder Gardens and Barrier Reef, on-site bar and restaurant, beach chairs and facilities. The north ans east sides of the island can be windy in the winter months (they sure were most of early-mid January), so calm water is not guaranteed.
