Hi. We are booked for August! I am excited. Reading in various places about ironshore and rays, do you suggest we all have/wear a sturdy pair of beach or dive boot? Is barefoot walking in the water as dangerous as some people make it sound?

While there are certainly numerous places that have iron shore, especially by some snorkel sites, I manage to carefully get by without water shoes or booties and rarely wear them in the water off Rum Point. You will not need them if going in the water around Seven Mile Beach. That stated, if you have them, bring them. It can make all the difference between an enjoyable time and a not so enjoyable time. I wouldn't worry so much about stepping on a Sting Ray (can happen though), it would be the rocky areas that are more of a concern.
